MG ZS SUV (Hyundai Creta rival) ready for the Chinese market
Will make its world debut at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show.
MG will take the wraps off a new compact SUV at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show, which has been spotted prepping for the unveil at the venue. For the SUV, MG has brought back the ZS nameplate, which was first used in a sporty sedan sold in the UK from 2001-2005.
Based on a shortened version of the MG GS platform, the new MG ZS will rival compact SUVs like the Nissan Juke, Ssangyong Tivoli, Buick Encore and the Hyundai ix25 (Creta). Prices are expected to stretch from 80,000 yuan to 120,000 yuan in China. Like the GS, MG will also launch the ZS in the U.K at a later time.
MG will offer two engine options for its smallest SUV: a 1.0L three cylinder turbocharged engine with 125 hp and 170 Nm of torque, and a 1.5L N/A petrol engine producing 120 hp and 150 Nm of torque. The latter is only available with a 6-speed manual, while the former can be had with a 7-Speed DCT.
