Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross showcased at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross had its Middle East debut at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show. Mitsubishi had introduced the new compact SUV at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross combines the athleticism of an SUV with the sportiness of a coupe. The compact SUV features Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield design, LED headlamps and LED DRLs at the front, 18-inch black/silver alloy wheels on the sides and roof lip spoiler and full-width light bar combining LED brake light with the LED high-mount stop lamp at the rear.

Inside, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross sees the first implementation of Mitsubishi’s new dashboard architecture. A virtual horizontal axis splits functions between ‘Information’ (above the axis) and ‘Operation’ (beneath the axis). Large areas such as the dashboard or the door panels are trimmed with a soft, dimpled leather-like material. Piano black accents and silver trim complements the black interior colour scheme.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is 4,405 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall. It has a 2,670 mm wheelbase and a 183 mm ground clearance. There are two engine options: 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. The petrol engine develops 163 PS at 5,500 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,800-4,500 rpm. The diesel engine produces 150 PS at 3,750 rpm and 400 Nm of torque from 2,000-2,250 rpm. A 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission sends drive to the wheels. Front-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain layout, but there is an option for a 4WD system.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will go on sale in the UAE in early 2018. The display model was powered by the 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. Al Habtoor Motors, Mitsubishi’s official distributor in the UAE, may not offer the diesel engine option.
