Everything you need to know about the India-bound 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (facelift)
Despite being a mechanically potent SUV, the previous generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is now out of the radar of most of the potential buyers of mid-size SUVs here in India, due to the fact that it is now the oldest vehicle in its segment. The dated looks in and out as well as the scarcity of features are the reason behind this.
Now, Mitsubishi is all set to bounce back in the game by launching the current generation Pajero Sport here in India. Introduced back in 2015, this model Pajero Sport is going to receive a minor facelift internationally, and it is this new version which the Indian market will be getting.
Here's everything you need to know about the India-bound 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport:-
Exterior design
The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport looks much sharper and aggressive, mainly because of its new front fascia. Apart from the new, angular grille. With this mid-life update, the Pajero Sport follows Mitsubishi’s latest ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design concept, something which we have already seen on the Xpander MPV and the facelifted Triton pickup. The bumper and skid plate both are new.
On the sides, the only visual change is the fitment of new alloy wheels. At the rear, the tail lamp graphics have been tweaked and the bumper and skid plate are new.
Interior design
As expected, the interior design of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is mostly unchanged. The spy shot below suggests that the climate control panel is new, while the officially released teaser video has revealed a new, digital instrument cluster. The rest of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport’s cabin is retained from the second generation model, which features a large touch screen infotainment system at the middle of the cascading-type centre console. The cabin has the all-black theme with silver finishes on the steering wheel, inside door handles, centre console and gear lever. To be honest, it now feels far more premium and plusher as compared to the one sold in India currently.
Technical specifications
Changes to the specifications of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with the facelift are yet to be revealed. The Indian-spec model is said to come with the BS-VI version of the existing 2.4-litre four cylinder diesel engine that produces 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque. Expect an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD system as standard. While 2-seat and 5-seat versions are also available internationally, only the 7-seat version is likely to make it to India.
Price
Like the old Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, the new Pajero Sport will be a CBU import. While the old model is priced at INR 28.35 lakh (ex-showroom), the new model may cost at least around INR 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
