Mitsubishi Xpander’s mass exports commence

Mitsubishi has started exporting the Xpander from Indonesia. The Philippines is the first export market of the MPV, where sales are said to commence next month.

Mitsubishi expects to export around 30,000 units of the Mitsubishi Xpander during the first year.

The Mitsubishi Xpander is manufactured exclusively at the Bekasi plant. Mitsubishi has allocated 50% of the plant's annual production capacity (1,60,000 units) to this model Out of total 80,000 units a year, 20,000 were initially planned for exports. Now, the company says that it expects to export around 30,000 units during the first year.

The Mitsubishi Xpander is the production version of the Mitsubishi XM Concept, and it competes with the likes of the Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Avanza and Honda Mobilio. The three-row MPV measures 4,475 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width and 1,695 mm/1,700 mm in height. It has a 2,775 mm wheelbase and a 200 mm ground clearance. It is powered by the 4A91 1.5L MIVEC petrol engine that produces 104 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission sends the drive to the front wheels.

The Philippines is the first export market of the Mitsubishi Xpander.

The Mitsubishi Xpander’s prices in the Philippines range from PHP 8,85,000 (INR 11,29,231.77) to 10,60,000 (INR 13,52,526.19). After the Philippines, Mitsubishi will launch its latest MPV in Thailand and Vietnam. To this effect, local testing in Thailand has commenced.
