MV Agusta-Loncin sub-500 cc motorcycles will be launched in India - Report

MV Agusta announced its tie-up with the Chinese bike maker Loncin in July 2019 to manufacture new small-capacity motorcycles. A report in Zigwheels reveals that the Italian bike maker will be launching in India by the end of 2020 or early 2021.

The upcoming small-capacity MV Agusta bikes will be launched in India by early 2021.

MV Agusta motorcycles are brought to India by Kinetic Motoroyale. We do not see any reason why these new MV Agusta motorcycles would be brought in via a different route. There is no confirmation if the bikes India will involve any levels of localisation or not.

The MV Agusta-Loncin alliance will involve 4 model families each of which will bear MV Agusta’s signature DNA. These new motorcycles will allow newer riders to get access to the rich history of MV Agusta. Besides that, the new bikes will also produce a unique sound and vehicle dynamics.

Initially, the alliance will make motorcycles in the engine displacement ranging from 350 cc to 500 cc. Sadly, though, these new MV Agusta motorcycles will not come cheap. In fact, they will carry a premium over existing motorcycles in the segment.

These new motorcycles will be developed by Italians while Loncin will take care of production. This arrangement is in line with the one seen in the case of the TVS-BMW Motorrad partnership. In case of the Indo-German alliance, the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS were developed in Munich by BMW Motorrad. The manufacturing is taken care of by TVS’ Hosur facility.

The partnership will be the amalgamation of Italian engineering and Chinese manufacturing efficiency.

Kinetic Motoroyale recently launched the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 in India at INR 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This middleweight sports tourer is manufactured in four variants (Standard, Lusso, Lusso SCS and RC SCS). However, the Indian market only gets it only the standard variant. Soon, the company will launch the Dragster 800 in India later this month.
