New 2020 Honda Africa Twin teaser reveals unveiling date [Video]

Honda has released yet another teaser of the upcoming 2020 Africa Twin. The latest teaser video reveals the unveiling date of the motorcycle along with the updated headlight on the 2020 iteration of the adventure tourer. As seen at the end of the video, the 2020 Honda Africa Twin will debut on 23 September.

The teaser video also shows two “Honda Africa Twin tags” (screenshot included in the image gallery), confirming two variants. Leaked photographs of the upcoming model have already revealed the two versions of the 2020 Africa Twin – Standard and Adventure. The more premium Adventure variant will pack features like a tall windscreen, larger fuel tank, top-box and pannier mounts, wider sump guard and cross-spoke design for the wheels (tubeless tyre compatible). The higher-spec variant will also receive have pair of lights under the primary illuminator that will most likely perform cornering lighting function.

The standard variant, on the other hand, will come with a shorter windscreen and miss features such as tubeless tyre compatible wheels and the top box and pannier mounts. It will also come with a relatively smaller tank than the Adventure variant. Both variants will benefit from full-LED lighting and a revised cockpit that will comprise a new TFT display. The chassis, sub-frame and the swingarm will also have undergone changes. Yet, the CRF1100L will carry the same wheelbase of 1,575 mm as the current CRF1000L.

Both variants will feature a bigger engine than the current model (CRF1000L). The Africa Twin CRF1100L will use a Euro-V compliant 1,084 cc engine, as against a 998 cc unit on the CRF1000L Euro-IV model. The maximum power output from the parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor will be 101 PS as against 94 PS on the current bike. The 2020 Africa Twin will be available with dual-clutch automatic or manual transmission options. The Indian market will most likely get the DCT version only.

Anchoring department will include dual petal-type discs at the front and a single rotor at the back. The electronics package on the 2020 model may be upgraded and we may see cornering ABS function on the new bike. Both, the standard and the Adventure variant will feature off-road biased setup for the wheels (21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel).

The premium-spec Adventure variant will come with cross-spoke wheels (for tubeless tyres), tall windscreen and a bigger tank (than the standard bike) among other features.

The 2020 Africa Twin CRF1100L, as mentioned above, will be unveiled to the world on Monday, 23 September.
