Design expected to be an evolution of the current model.

According to a report on MoneyControl, Bajaj Auto will launch three Avenger motorcycles this week. Reports of Bajaj coming out with a new Avenger have long been doing the rounds, and the last report (July 2015) stated that the company will conduct the rollout this financial year.

The new Avengers are expected to get the 199.5 cc engine from the 200 NS.

MoneyControl has posted no details as to the motorcycle specifically. The publication states that Bajaj expects Avenger sales to increase from 4,000 units per month to 20,000 units a month with the launch of the new models.

Earlier speculations have pointed to a design which will be similar to the current Avenger. The cruiser motorcycle is expected with plenty of chrome-embellished parts, a slender tank design and its characteristic low-riding position.

Where the current Avenger uses a 220 cc engine, the new Avenger is reported to use a downsized 199.5 cc engine, borrowed from the 200 NS. Though this unit is smaller in displacement, it produces higher power and torque figures in comparison to the 220 cc unit.

Bajaj is looking to increase sales of the Avenger brand by five-fold with the new model.

In the numbers game, the 199.5 cc engine develops 23.52 PS at 9,500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, whereas the 220 cc unit churns 19.03 PS at 8,400 rpm and 17.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.

Other mechanical changes would come in the form of a rear disc brake, and possibly the inclusion of ABS (the RS200 was the first Bajaj to get ABS). Further details on the new Avenger are expected this week.
