New details on the 2016 Proton Saga have surfaced online ahead of its launch in Malaysia in the coming days. Bookings are currently being accepted across all Proton dealerships.

The only engine option available is a 1.3 litre VVT that produces 94 hp at 5,750 rpm and 120 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

It will be available in four variants: Standard (MT), Standard (AT), Executive (AT) and Premium (AT), and prices are expected to range between RM 37,000 and RM 46,000. The new Saga has slightly grown in size. It measures 4,331 mm long, 1,689 mm wide, 1,491 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,465 mm, making it 74 mm longer, 9 mm wider and 11 mm lower than the outgoing Saga. It has a boot volume of 420L.

The Perodua Bezza rival is 74 mm longer, 9 mm wider and 11 mm lower than the outgoing model.

The top-end Saga Premium comes equipped with features like ESC with hill-hold, 15-inch alloy wheels, rear chrome garnish, reverse parking camera with a display integrated in the IRVM, a 2-DIN head unit with steering audio controls, fabric seats, and gloss grey trim on the gear lever.
