Honda Cars India starts exports of new Jazz to South Africa ahead of Indian launch - IAB Report
Available with 2 petrol engines.
Honda Cars India has indeed started manufacturing the new Jazz at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, but the initial units have not been dispatched to local dealerships. Instead they have been exported to the South African market, where the launch has also been conducted.
The India-built Jazz is available in South Africa with 1.2- and 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engines with prices ranging from 179,900 Rand to 264,900 Rand (INR 9.54 lakhs to INR 14 lakhs). Bear in mind that these prices will have no influence on the Indian car's pricing as the duty structure varies.
The 1.2-liter petrol, borrowed from the Brio and Amaze, makes 88 PS (86.76 bhp) and 110 Nm of torque, and is available with 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmissions. The manual is good for a 0-100 km/h dash in 13.4 seconds while the automatic takes 14.3 seconds.
The more powerful, City-loaned 1.5-liter engine is paired to a 5-speed manual and CVT as well. The manual hits 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds with the automatic taking 10.6 seconds.
According to local South African reports, the hatch measures 3,955 mm in length, 2,530 mm in wheelbase and comes with a 253 liter boot.
On all models, Honda is offering dual front, side and curtain airbags, ABS and EBD, vehicle stability control and remote central locking. Furthermore, a multi-function steering wheel, USB connectivity and Bluetooth are also part of the standard kit.

The new Jazz is expected to launch in India in the first half of this year. For the Indian market, the hatchback will be equipped with the 1.2-liter petrol and the 1.5-liter diesel engine. Honda India currently also exports the Brio, Brio sedan (Amaze) and the Mobilio to South Africa, but these commenced months after the domestic launch.
