New Hyundai ix25 (Hyundai Creta) to get 1.4L T-GDI engine in China
Facelift to bring a new turbocharged petrol engine to the Hyundai ix25 (Hyundai Creta).
The Hyundai ix25 (Hyundai Creta) is about to get a facelift in China this year. A report from Cheshi.com says that the facelifted model will get a new 1.4-litre T-GDI petrol engine.
The current Hyundai ix25 is available with 1.6-litre Gamma, 1.6-litre T-GDI and 2.0-litre Nu petrol engines. The 1.4T engine was confirmed to the Chinese publication by Xue Haozhi, the director at Beijing-Hyundai's communication office, who said in an interview that the 1.4T engine will have an output comparable to the current model's 2.0L engine. The 1.4-litre turbocharged engine develops 95.6 kW (128.15 hp) and 211 Nm of torque.
Other local reports say that the facelifted model will sell with two engine options - 1.4T and 1.6L. The 1.6-litre Gamma engine is a carryover, tuned to deliver 91.6 kW (122.79 hp) and 150.7 Nm of torque. The 1.6-litre T-GDI and 2.0-litre Nu engines will get discontinued. Beijing-Hyundai is either making space for the Hyundai Kona or simply making changes as demanded by the market. The length of the SUV, courtesy new bumpers, will increase from current 4,270 mm by 20 mm to 4,290 mm. Undisguised spy shots have already shown the new front fascia and other visual changes arriving with the mid-cycle refresh.
