The new Scorpio is confirmed to arrive in showrooms this year.

Autocar India reports that the upcoming mid-cycle refresh for the Mahindra Scorpio will bring along the more refined 6-speed Aisin AT gearbox adapted for its longitudinal engine layout. The facelifted Scorpio is confirmed to arrive in showrooms later this year.

The 6-speed Aisin AT gearbox is currently offered exclusively in the Mahindra XUV500.

Up until recently, the Scorpio was available with a 6-speed automatic from DSI in the top-end S10 grades, but was quietly discontinued, fuelling rumours that the company could replace it with the 6-speed Aisin AT gearbox from the XUV500. The new Scorpio is also rumoured to pack the more powerful mHawk140 engine, which is essentially the same 2.2L turbodiesel unit but with power dialled up by 20 bhp to 140 bhp. The report states that the manual version will continue with the 5-speed unit, and AWD will be optional in the top-end S10 grade.

As for cosmetic changes, we expect the facelifted Scorpio to feature new headlamps, grille, bumpers, fog lamps, tail lamps, while its dimensions will be almost the same as the outgoing model that measures 4,456 mm long, 1,820 mm wide and 1,930 mm/1,995 mm high, with a 2,680 mm wheelbase.
