Paris Live - New Suzuki Vitara
Looks to lock horns with the Nissan Juke.
The all-new Suzuki Vitara, the production version of the Suzuki iV-4 concept, has made its world debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show today.
Unlike the concept which features striking elements, the model which finally makes it to the assembly line gets a watered-down design. A twin-slat silver grille and a matching bumper insert, peeled back headlamps, dual-tone exterior color theme (optional) with contrast roof, an upward swooping crease line on the doors and angular combination lights characterize the new Vitara.
Coming to the interior, the compact crossover gets a familiar steering wheel but the dashboard design with exterior color coordinated inserts and a clock mounted between the central AC vents is new. The centre console is finished in black and houses an infotainment display and controls for AC.
The Vitara is powered by the M16 1.6-liter petrol engine or the D16AA 1.6-liter diesel engine, and both motors make 120 hp, while torque values are 156 Nm and 320 Nm respectively.
A five-speed manual transmission and an optional six-speed automatic transmission pair to the petrol engine, while the diesel comes with a six-speed manual. The petrol engine will come with FWD as a standard feature while the ALLGRIP all-wheel drive system is an optional extra.
