The bookings are open in Europe, while the production begins in November.

Along with the SUV, Volvo has also launched the ‘Care by Volvo’ subscription service. Care by Volvo, first available on the XC40 from launch, makes having a car as transparent, easy and hassle-free. A monthly flat-fee subscription does away with the down payments, price negotiations and local price differences. Depending on local availability, Care by Volvo will also include access to a range of digital concierge services such as fuelling, cleaning, service pick-up and e-commerce delivery to the car. The XC40 with Care by Volvo is available to order online from today in select markets.

From the start of production, the XC40 will be available with a D4 diesel or a T5 petrol four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain. In the UK, the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine makes 190.3 PS and 400 Nm. The petrol variant uses a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged mill that generates 250 PS and 350 Nm. The power is sent using an 8-speed automatic transmission via AWD. Further powertrain options, including a hybridised as well as a pure electric version, will be added later. The XC40 will also be the first Volvo model to be available with Volvo Cars’ new 3-cylinder engine.
