New VW I.D. CROZZ concept showcased at IAA 2017 - Live

Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the new VW I.D. CROZZ at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. This is a new version of the original concept vehicle from Auto Shanghai 2017.

The new VW I.D. CROZZ looks closer to production and has several subtle changes. Volkswagen's typical interest of highlighting the front grille with LED strip is apparent in case of the I.D. CROZZ too now. The grille with its LED lighting flows further into the LED headlights, which have a relatively more road-ready graphics. The grille layout in the lower bumper too is tweaked, especially in the corner openings. The bumper is revised for a more chunkier look. At the sides, the new I.D. CROZZ features new design wheels.

The new VW I.D. CROZZ features Hibiscus Red Metallic body paint. The updated model has a new colour scheme on the inside, making the cabin look less like a mock-up, more like a real car. Its doors can open or close when prompted via a new voice assistant. One can also activate or deactivate the 'I.D. Pilot' fully automated driving mode via voice command.

The VW I.D. CROZZ has two electric motors at work, one at the front axle and the other at the rear. An electric propshaft handles the torque distribution. The motors together generate a net output of 225 kW (301.61 hp). Charging the battery to 80% of its energy capacity takes 30 minutes when using a fast-charging system. The pure electric SUV has a top speed of 180 km/h and a driving range of 500 km (NEDC).

Volkswagen will launch the production version of the VW I.D. CROZZ concept in 2020.
