If the latest Autocar India report is to go by, India Yamaha Motor is planning to bring the MT-15 to the Indian market. The MT-15 is the naked-roadster variant of the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0. The 2019 Yamaha MT-15 was unveiled in Thailand earlier this month. The motorcycle draws styling cues from the MT-09.

The 155cc naked roadster was unveiled in Thailand early this month. There is no confirmation from Yamaha about the Indian launch of the MT-15 yet.

An all-new bug-eyed LED headlamp setup complements the MT-09 inspired design. Being a naked roadster, there is no wind protection in the form of a windscreen. A digital instrument cluster, which is identical to the unit on the Yamaha YZF-R15, follows the LED headlight.

Steering duties are performed by a flat, single-piece handlebar that offers upright and comfortable ergonomics. The 10-spoke alloy wheels and aluminium swing-arm from the previous generation have been retained in the 2019 model. The 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 110-section front and 140-section rear IRC sourced tubeless tires.

With a full tank of fuel (10 litres), the MT-15 tips the weighing scale at 133 kg. The roadster measures 1,965 mm in length, 800 mm in width, 1,065 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,335 mm. The seat is 810 mm tall that should make it accessible to a wide range of riders.

The new MT-15 receives a Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0-sourced all-new 155 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve, fuel-injected engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) and a slipper clutch. The motor is tuned to produce 19 bhp of maximum power and 14.8 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and is claimed to offer better low-end and mid-range power.

A 267 mm disc at the front with radially mounted brake calliper and a 220 mm rotor with a floating calliper at the rear handle the anchoring tasks.
