New Yamaha NMax 155 (facelift) spied with new LED taillamp

The facelifted Yamaha NMax 155 was recently spied for the first time. The new model was undergoing road testing in Indonesia.

Yamaha Nmax 155 Update Spyshot With New Decals
The Yamaha NMax 155 will get a sportier LED taillamp with the facelift.

The spy shot of the new Yamaha NMax 155 confirms the new taillamp and tail section design seen in the patent images revealed earlier. The new shape of the exhaust unit is similar to the shape of the exhaust unit seen in these renders. Besides that, the new NMax 155 will get a twin LED headlamp setup unlike the single pod unit seen in the present version. The indicators too have been restyled but miss out on LEDs.

Besides that, the Yamaha NMax 155 test unit carries a strange decal on the side body. The front fender and apron bear a sportier image, while the windscreen lends a sleeker look. Also, the seat appears to be thinner. The tail section now points upwards for a sportier image. The inner front apron gets a larger pocket for storing knickknacks.

Powering the Yamaha NMax 155 will be the same 155 cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected mill. This engine also does duty in the R15 v3.0 and Aerox 155. In its present tune, the engine produces 15.09 PS of power and 14.4 Nm of torque at the crank. Variable Valve Actuation helps the powerplant produce the ideal amount of power at all engine speeds depending on the need.

Like the Yamaha XMax, the new Yamaha NMax 155 will feature a smart key. The instrument cluster will be a new unit. The suspension setup will include conventional telescopic fork up front and twin gas-charged shocks at the rear. Besides that, the new NMax 155 is rumoured to get a Smart Motor Generator, like the ACG unit seen in the new Honda ADV 150. Yamaha may even throw in its version of Idle Start-stop mechanism.

The exhaust unit of the new Yamaha NMax is new, but there's no word on Euro 4 emissions compliance. Indonesia currently follows Euro 3 norms.

In its present form, Yamaha NMax 155 is priced at IDR 27.54 million (INR 1.36 lakhs) and a minor price hike is on cards. Expect the scooter to be launched first in Indonesia in the next couple of months. Also, the premium maxi-scooter is expected to make its way to India later this year, but there has been no confirmation from the company yet.
