Next-gen 2017 VW Polo - Rendering

VW is expected to unveil the sixth generation VW Polo, which will go into production from June 2017 for international markets, according to a report.

Based on the VW T-Cross Breeze concept as well as the evolution of the Polo's styling, IAB's graphic artist, Shoeb R Kalania has rendered the next gen VW Polo. The next Polo is likely to grow in wheelbase and width for better interior space, while the length will remain just under 4 meters.

The 2017 VW Polo will be based on the entry-level version of the MQB platform (MQB A0). With the new platform, the Polo is expected to be lighter yet more rigid for improved safety. For its introduction in the Indian market, VW will have to invest in re-tooling their plant in Pune to match the localization level of the outgoing PQ25 platform.

Engine lineup could include a variety of petrol and TDI engines ranging from 1.0- to 1.8-litres in displacement. The Polo for emerging markets will continue offering MPi petrol and downsized TDI engines alongside the compact, more efficient and more powerful TSI turbocharged petrol engines. Transmission options will comprise of 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
