The Hyundai Tucson entered its third generation in early 2015. Last year, in its first full year of sales, it recorded 7,35,388 units, making it the best-selling Hyundai SUV of the year worldwide.

The next-gen Hyundai Tucson will implement the new design language for future Hyundai SUVs introduced with the Hyundai Kona (pictured).

Sources familiar with Hyundai's future plans now tell Reuters that a fully redesigned Tucson is expected in 2020. This indirectly suggests that the third-gen Hyundai Tucson could receive a facelift before the end of 2018.

No other details about the next-gen Hyundai Tucson are reported. Judging from the direction Hyundai is taking with the Hyundai Kona and the yet-to-arrive next-gen Hyundai Santa Fe, it is assumed that the next-gen Hyundai Tucson will sport a striking body shape with a host of advanced driver-assistive technologies.

Hyundai has confirmed that the Kona bears the company's next design language for SUVs, meaning that the 'composite lamps,' 'wing-type' fenders, unique rear light pod and the contrasting black 'armor' could transfer into the C-Segment crossover. The current Tucson is created using the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.

In related news, sources confirm that the next-gen Hyundai Santa Fe arrives next year. Its 7-seat version will follow in early 2019. The Hyundai Carlino sub-4 metre SUV for India is also due in H1 2019. Just after the start of the next decade, the next-gen Hyundai Creta is expected with a seven-seat variant.

Hyundai has planned three pickup trucks, a Hyundai Santa Cruz Truck Concept-derived model targeted at North America, the Hyundai Creta STC concept's production version for South America and a tough, Toyota Hilux rivalling model for world markets like Australia.

By 2021, Hyundai's crossover & utility portfolio will be complete.
