Spied - Next gen Mahindra Bolero (U301) testing day and night

Based on the new modular hydroformed chassis.

The next gen Mahindra Bolero, codenamed U301, has already been spotted testing several times and here is a latest set of spyshots clicked in Chennai by Rush Lane reader Mr. Venkat.

The Mahindra U301 is based on the new modular hydroformed ladder frame chassis.

The UV was spotted late in the evening suggesting that Mahindra has intensified the testing. The next gen Bolero retains its boxy shape but is based on the new modular hydroformed ladder frame chassis which debuted in the new Scorpio.

Expected to be ready in the last quarter of 2015, the U301 appears to be a sub-4 metre product which will be positioned between the smaller S101 and the Scorpio. Power would come from Mahindra's new modular engine family which is being developed in association with its South Korean subsidiary Ssangyong. Viable candidates are 1.5- or 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines.

New family of engines would be seen under the hood.

With monthly sales not dipping below 7,000 units, the Mahindra Bolero proves to be the UV specialist's cash cow. The improved version with a new platform would enable the Bolero to keep any fresh competition at bay.

Expected Price: INR 6-8 lakhs, ex-Showroom
Launch Date: Late 2015 (Tentative)
