MSIL could move the next-gen Maruti Ertiga into NEXA outlets - Report

A report published by Team-BHP has revealed more details regarding the next-gen Maruti Ertiga. The MPV has been spotted testing on multiple occasions and is scheduled to arrive in showrooms next year.

As depicted by IAB's rendering of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga, it will have a bigger rear overhang, which would translate to increase cargo space and rear seat space.

The report states that the Maruti is considering moving the sales of the Ertiga to the Nexa showrooms with the launch of the new generation model. The move seems logical as all Maruti products currently on sale in that price bracket or above are retailed through Nexa.

The report also mentions that the Ertiga will arrive with Suzuki's new 1.5 L diesel developed in-house. The current 1.3 L DDiS 200 engine is set to be phased out when BSVI emission norms come into effect in April 2020. This new 1.5 L diesel has been developed in-house by Suzuki and will power the Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, and the S-Cross as well eventually.

The next-gen Maruti Ertiga is based on the HEARTECT platform that underpins the Dzire, Baleno, Ignis, and the next-gen Maruti Swift.

While a media report published last week places the launch of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga in August next year, Team-BHP says that the MPV will be launched sooner than expected. Indonesia is expected to get the next-gen Ertiga in the first half of 2018.
