According to a new report from Automotive News Europe, the next-gen Seat Ibiza will have its world debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. The fifth generation Seat Ibiza will be based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB A0 platform that will underpin the Seat Arona as well as the sixth generation VW Polo and the VW T-Cross Breeze concept's production version.

The redesigned Seat Ibiza is expected to have a shape similar to that of the Seat Leon and styling cues borrowed from the Seat 20V20 concept. Thanks to the MQB platform, the next-gen Ibiza will be compatible with the latest engines and tech to be offered in the Volkswagen Group's other models. A variety of three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines should be offered at launch on the VW Polo's Mediterranean cousin.

The fifth-gen Seat Ibiza should be produced in Martorell near Barcelona in Spain alongside the second generation Audi A1.
