Next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis - IAB Rendering
Last week, Toyota confirmed that the next-gen Corolla Altis will hit the European markets in early 2019. IAB's illustrator Shoeb Kalania has worked on a rendering giving an early preview of one of the final body styles of the redesigned Honda Civic rival.
The 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis will have a highly emotive design, most of which comes from the hatchback and estate. The TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform is the key to the car’s significantly bolder and more dynamic looks. It lets the car sit closer to the ground, and that, along with the wider body, gives a very athletic stance.
Details like slim, J-shaped bi-beam LED headlamps, chiselled character lines at the profile, 18-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps with a diffusing inner lens seen are expected on the sedan body style too. The interior may look identical to that of the hatchback, which was the firstcomer. The sedan currently lacks rear AC vents, and Toyota might want to fix that with the full model change.
As for the engine options, Toyota could offer the 126 kW (171.31 PS) M20A-FKS 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine married to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT as well as the 116 PS 8NR-FTS 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled to a CVT. The hatchback and estate get not one but two hybrid powertrains: 122 PS 1.8-litre and 180 PS 2.0-litre. The sedan may get only the latter keeping a safe distance from the Prius.

With no plan for a diesel engine, we expect the company to offer the Hybrid in markets like India where there exists a class of mileage seekers.
