Next-gen Toyota Previa to ride on the TNGA-C platform - Report
Current model turned 11 this year.
The third generation Toyota Estima (Toyota Previa) arrived in January 2006 and Toyota has so far extended its life with multiple updates, with the most recent one introduced last June. Now, the company is readying a completely new, fourth generation model to replace the current model.
According to a new report from t6tt.com, Toyota will utilise the TNGA-C platform for the fourth-gen Toyota Estima. This is the same platform that will underpin the next-gen Toyota Corolla. The Toyota New Global Architecture platform allows for low-stance designs and provides a lower centre of gravity, better stability and handling and increased fuel efficiency.
The current Toyota Estima measures 4,820 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,760 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The next-gen Toyota Estima will have a smaller body and measure 4,730 mm in length, 1,775 mm in width and 1,650 mm in height. The model introduced last year features Toyota Safety Sense C, while the fourth-gen model will get the more advanced Toyota Safety Sense P that combines an in-vehicle camera and front-grille-mounted, millimeter-wave radar for enhanced safety.
The Toyota Safety Sense P package includes features like Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beams (AHB) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).

The current Estima is available in a petrol and hybrid models, and the same types are expected in the future generation. The petrol model is powered by the the 2AZ-FE 2.4-litre engine that produces 125 kW (170 PS) and 224 Nm of torque. The hybrid variant's powertrain has the 2AZ-FXE 2.4-litre petrol unit that develops 110 kW (150 PS) and 190 Nm of torque and two electric motors: 2JM and 2FM. The 2JM motor generates 105 kW (143 PS) and 270 Nm of torque, while 2FM motor makes 50 kW (68 PS) and 130 Nm of torque.
