Next generation Fiat Punto's interior snapped - Spied

Expected to go on sale in H1 2017 in Latin American markets.

Courtesy of a Carplace reader, the interior of the next generation Fiat Punto has been snapped, revealing few design details and features we can expect to see when it goes on sale in H1 2017.

Judging by the spyshots, the interior will be a step up over the aged design of the current model.

The 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel and instrument cluster appear to be sourced from the Fiat Tipo, while the center console has only four buttons in the middle and HVAC controls below. Although not visible in the spyshot, a UConnect infotainment system could be integrated as a freestanding display.

The centre console features a button called ‘City’, which is likely part of a feature to improve fuel efficiency within city conditions. It also gets ESP, engine start/stop system and a manual HVAC system, while an automatic climate control could be offered in high-end trims.

The City button is likely a feature to improve fuel efficiency within city conditions.

Engine lineup is reported to include three petrol options: one based on the new 1.4 GSE (Global Small Engine) platform that has an aluminium block, the E-Torq 1.6-litre motor and the E-Torq 1.8-litre mill. The smallest engine is expected to produce around 100 hp and about 140 Nm. As seen in one of the spyshots, it gets a tiptronic automatic transmission (likely to be a 6-speed unit) with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

FCA India has not announced any plans to introduce next generation versions of the Punto or Linea.
