To be launched in H1 2017.

The next generation Fiat Punto has been snapped testing in Brazil, in the Betim region, near the company's production facility. The completely camouflaged prototype is said to look more like the next iteration of the Fiat Palio than that of the Fiat Punto, but asserts that it is indeed the replacement of the latter.

The 2017 Fiat Punto is codenamed X6H.

CarPlace says that in comparison with the current Palio, the test mule has its rear axle farther from the front, suggesting that it has a longer wheelbase; ergo the Punto. Codenamed X6H, the car is said to succeed the Punto in the Latin American markets, but it is unclear if it will do the same in the European nations.

The 2017 Punto is said to have three engine options.

The report claims that the 2017 Punto will have three gasoline engine choices - one based on the new 1.4 GSE (Global Small Engine) platform that has an aluminium block and control via current, the E-Torq 1.6-litre motor and the E-Torq 1.8-litre mill. The smallest engine is expected to produce around 100 hp and about 140 Nm.
