Next Generation Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero) - Rendering

Design will draw cues from the GC PHEV Concept.

Although Mitsubishi Motors haven't explicitly confirmed the launch of a next generation Pajero (Montero in India), Car and Driver Brasil has come up with a render based on the GC PHEV Concept.

Similar to Mitsubishi's latest Outlander, the Pajero sports the "dynamic shield" front end characterized by a bold 3-slat grille, sleek LED DRLs, and headlamps.

The GC PHEV Concept was first launched at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013 to provide an insight as to what a future Pajero could look like. The render does retain the classic lines of the Pajero, while improving upon it with modern elements. Similar to Mitsubishi's latest Outlander, the Pajero sports the "dynamic shield" front end characterized by a bold 3-slat grille, sleek LED DRLs, and headlamps as separate circular units placed under the DRLs.

Since Mitsubishi hasn't begun development on the Pajero/Montero, details on the expected engine lineup are scarce. The company did make it clear that they will be focusing on plug-in hybrid systems in the future, which points to the possibility of a hybrid variant for the next Pajero.

The Pajero is one of the most recognized and highest selling models for Mitsubishi worldwide. So, it is a given that the company will not shelve development plans for the next generation model, as they did with the Mitsubishi Lancer.
