Next generation Volvo S60 rendered

Omni Auto has shared a speculative rendering of the next generation Volvo S60. The next-gen Volvo S60 is expected to be introduced in 2018 and will replace the second-generation model that has been around since 2010.

The rendering borrows heavily from the Volvo Concept 40.2 that previews the next generation S40 saloon.

The render is based on spy shots of the sedan and incorporates design cues from the current crop of Volvo products. It also borrows heavily from the Volvo Concept 40.2. The exterior has a distinct edginess in its design. The Thor's Hammer LED DRLs extend all the way to the grille, quite like they do in case of the Volvo XC60. The rendering looks closer to the next-gen Volvo S60 Cross Country thanks to the wheel arches with body cladding and the generous ground clearance.

The next-gen Volvo S60 will utilise the SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform that currently underpins the Volvo XC90, Volvo S90, Volvo V90, and the Volvo XC60. Engine options will include 1.5-litre three-cylinder, 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel units. A plug-in hybrid variant and/or a pure electric T8 variant.

The current second generation S60 (pictured) has bee around since 2010.
