We've been following Sunny's (Almera in other countries) global voyage after its launch in India. In 2012, the Nissan Sunny was launched in Australia and was soon after spied in Malaysia without any disguises meaning a launch was incoming.

This week Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) officially presented the Nissan Almera sedan in Malaysia. The Malaysian Almera takes the place of a former Nissan sedan in that segment, the Latio.

ETCM claims the Sunny has best-in-class cabin space, and the car's 636 mm rear legroom and boot volume of 490 litres as USPs. The Almera features an Intelligent Key with push-button start, Automatic climate control, steering wheel audio controls and a Fine Vision Meter with multi information display.

It comes in 5 colour choices Brilliant White, Tungsten Silver, Twilight Grey, Sapphire Black, Bronze Gold.

The Almera will be powered by the Nissan HR15DE 1.5 litre DOHC and VTC-equipped 4 cylinder engine that makes 100 hp and 139 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. It will be paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Nissan claims that the Almera can return a fuel efficiency figure of 14.9 km/l.

The Almera is constructed on the Micra's extended-wheelbase carriage and like the Micra is a global model.

The variants of the Almera will be positioned between 12 lakh to 15 lakh rupees. Pre-bookings of the Almera have begun and cars will be delivered starting in October.
