Rising input costs to blame.

Nissan India has announced that it will increase the prices of its products as well as that of Datsun from January next year by 2.5 percent and 3 percent respectively. While the cost of Nissan cars will go up by Rs. 18,000 the prices of Datsun cars will increase by Rs. 11,000.

The price hike is effective on the Datsun Go as well.

Arun Malhotra, MD, NMIPL (Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd.) attributed the price increase to rising input costs. Nissan's range in India includes products such as Micra Active, Micra, Sunny, Evalia and Terrano, while Datsun offers just a single car, Datsun Go. Next month will see the launch of the Datsun Go+ sub-4 meter compact MPV.

Nissan Motor India Private Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co Ltd, Japan. Forayed into Indian market back in 2005, the company has a full range of products such as hatchback, MUV, SUV and sedan in India.
