Nissan is formulating an SUV offensive plan for India. The company will soon introduce the Nissan Kicks. Nissan is also considering even bigger and plusher SUVs for the Indian market, as per a report from The Economic Times.

The Kicks will compete with the Hyundai Creta in India.

Speaking to the publication recently, Thomas Kuehl, President, Nissan Motor, said: “Now you will see an SUV offensive from us.” “You (India) will have something like a Nissan Kicks soon,” he added. This model measures over four metres in length, meaning that it will compete with the Hyundai Creta.

The Nissan Kicks sold internationally is underpinned by the V platform. The Indian-spec Kicks will ride on the low-cost B0 platform that forms the basis for the Nissan Terrano as well. This highly localised platform is utilised by the Renault Duster and the Renault Captur (Renault Kaptur) as well.

The Indian-spec Nissan Kicks may borrow the 1.5-litre H4K petrol engine (106 PS/142 Nm) and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine (110 PS/240 Nm) from the Renault Captur. In addition to 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission, Nissan may offer the Xtronic CVT option in the premium B-SUV.
