Nissan Micra facelift likely to be launched late next year

Sources have told IndianAutosBlog.com that Nissan is likely to introduce the Micra facelift late next year. We're told that Nissan will not drastically change the car's looks as the curvy shape has created a fan following. Making it a bit aggressive could lead to the creation of the Renault Pulse!

This operation is expected to be a mild mid-life facelift. Nissan may not lend the car a whole new look as it may mess up its personality. Manufacturers hold on to products for about 6-7 years before going to the next generation and the Micra turns three next year.

The facelift could be an attempt to make the Micra look more premium than it is now and that means jazzing up the car's exterior and interior with plenty of chrome and adding new colors. A sporty version of the Micra was showcased through the Nissan Compact Sports Concept which was brought to this year's Delhi Auto Expo. Nissan is also expected to introduce a Nismo edition (Nissan's tuning arm) of the Micra by the time the facelift comes out.

The company is unlikely to make any changes to the powertrains. Components such as a turbocharged petrol engine and automatic transmission, available in overseas markets, are not expected to be launched in India.
