Nissan Micra facelift to launch in India by July?

The Nissan Micra facelift made its world debut recently in Thailand and it's about time that the hatchback gets updated in India too.

The facelift that was unveiled in Thailand has a conservative headlamp design.

However there seems to be a slight twist in the story for India. If you remember, we ran spyshots of the car which was caught in Pune a few months ago.

The test mule had a different front fascia compared to that of the facelift unveiled in Thailand. Its headlamps take cues from the Nissan Extrem concept that was unveiled at the Sao Paulo Motor Show last October.

Nissan announced that the Extrem previews the firm’s future small car design. In fact, our in-house rendering specialist Shoeb had come up with a rendering of the facelifted Micra with Extrem’s headlamps much earlier than the spotting!

However, India will be the export base for the Nissan Micra and it remains to be seen how many variations will ultimately make it to the production line.

The headlamps of the test mule spotted in India were consistent with Shoeb's rendering from last year.

On the inside, the new Micra gets an improved MID and a revised central console design.

Oncars.in reports that the Nissan Micra facelift would be launched in India sometime between June and July. The report also says that the car’s marketing initiatives would begin soon and the Olive Green shade will be the communication color.

The 1.2 litre petrol and the 1.5 litre diesel engines will continue unaltered but the former would get the X-CVT autobox option, as announced by Nissan for this financial year.

We also know that Nissan is working on a low cost version of the current Micra which would make further room for the facelift.
