Norton Atlas 650 scrambler teased ahead of the premiere at Motorcycle Live 2018?

Stuart Garner, CEO and Owner - Norton Motorcycles, has released a new video on his Twitter account, which teases an upcoming motorcycle that will be showcased at the Motorcycle Live 2018 at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) that runs from 17-25 November. Preliminary impressions suggest that the presentation will be the Norton Atlas 650 scrambler.

The video features some of the most iconic off-road Norton motorcycles. Kinetic Group owned MotoRoyale, which has rights to market Norton motorcycles in India, has confirmed that the Atlas 650 scrambler will come to India in 2020. In June, Stuart Garner had released official renders of the Norton Atlas 650 scrambler. The Atlas 650 will feature a modern design and an all-new 650cc parallel-twin engine.

The newly-developed 650 cc, parallel-twin engine on the Norton Atlas 650 comes with fuel injection and liquid cooling. The Atlas 650 will be available in two variants - ‘Low’ and ‘High’. The former will make 70 bhp while the later will make over 100 bhp of power. The company is working on a supercharged version of the engine that will develop 175 bhp, which will power Norton’s 650cc sports bike.

According to the renders, the Norton Atlas 650 features a round headlight, tear-drop fuel tank, wide handlebar, and a sleek tail section with a single-piece seat. Suspension components include USD front forks and an adjustable rear mono-shock. The motorcycle is underpinned by a tubular chassis that holds the parallel-twin motor.

The motorcycle will ride on wire-spoke wheels with a 17-inch rear rim size. The front will get an 18-inch rim for the ‘Low’ variant and a 19-inch for the ‘High’ model. The former will come with road-biased dual-purpose tyres while the latter will feature knobby off-road rubber.

The Norton Atlas 650 is expected to feature top-of-the-line braking hardware like Brembo M50 monobloc callipers. The bike will get twin discs at the front and a single rotor at the back with standard ABS. In the home market, the Atlas 650 will retail at 10,000 pounds (INR 9.5 lakh) and will rival the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled.
