Official - Mahindra's sub four metre Verito sedan to be launched by the end of March 2013
We all know that Mahindra is working on a sub-four metre version of the Verito sedan which will be ready by next year.
We asked Dr. Pawan Goenka, President and CEO of Mahindra's automotive sector, whether the car's looks are likeable after the surgery, and also about its launch date. Here is what Dr. Goenka had to say in his reply:
"I like it. Launch should happen before March end."
The sub four metre norm clearly dictates how automotive product planners and designers work nowadays. Mahindra seems to be very fond of the sub 4-meter concept since the Verito will be their second sub four meter product following the Quanto.
Thanks to the smaller dimension, the Verito will be Rs 30,000-50,000 less than the existing model. It will be interesting to see what Mahindra’s designers are going to come up with since the current car is not a looker at first place and making the truncated version look better will be a tricky job.
The famous 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine from Renault which powers the Verito will go into the compact sedan as it complies with the engine limitations of the sub four metre norm but Mahindra has no 1.2 litre petrol engine at its disposal and hence we expect the baby Verito to be a diesel only model.
The sub-four metre Verito will go head on against the Maruti Swift Dzire and the Honda Brio Amaze which is set to be launched roughly at the same time as the compact Verito.
