Malaysia - Perodua Axia budget hatchback delivers 21.6 km/l

The Perodua Axia (to be pronounced as "a-zee-a") budget small car which is about to be launched in Malaysia has been spied up close once again. The demo cars have already started reaching the showrooms.
The Axia is a badge-engineered Daihatsu Ayla with a new front fascia and dashboard. The variants on offer are E, G, SE (Special Edition) and Advance. The top-end Advance variant gets a sportier front-end and body kits.
The top-end variants are equipped with foglamps, front parking sensors, chrome grille, dual airbag, ABS, EBD, BA, touchscreen multimedia infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, leather seats and leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel.
Power comes from a 1.0-litre three-cylinder all-aluminium petrol engine which is also derived from the Ayla. The engine produces 65 PS (64.08 bhp) and 87 Nm of torque.
Array
While the SE and Advance are available with options of 5-speed MT and 4-speed AT, the lower variants only get the former. The spyshots of the demo car reveals that the sub-Myvi hatchback has a claimed fuel economy of 21.6 km/l.

The Perodua Axia has so far garnered over 3,500 bookings, signalling a strong start.
