Perodua 'D63D' sedan (Toyota Etios rival) expected to launch next year - Rendering

Perodua has confirmed, to Malaysian journalists, that it is working on introducing a sedan in the marketplace. Perodua president and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid, confirmed the development, and even said that the model would launch next year, or the year after that, but not later than that.
Reports state that Perodua is evaluating the platform, engine and transmission for its forthcoming sedan, which is codenamed the Perodua D63D sedan. Reports are also rife that the Perodua sedan would be based on a Toyota/Daihatsu platform. While the platform would be shared, Perodua would be in-charge of designing the car throughly.
Further, the CEO revealed that Perodua is targeting a 5-star NCAP safety rating for its sedan, which would mean mandatory ESC (ESC is a must-have feature for a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating), a first on a Perodua.
The Perodua sedan is likely to target budget offerings such as the Toyota Etios, Nissan Sunny and the Mitsubishi Attrage.
Perodua, for the first four months of the year, led with a market share of 35 percent in Malaysia with its product range including the Alza, Axia and Myvi.
