Piaggio announces CBS and ABS upgrade to entire Vespa and Aprilia range

Piaggio India has announced that the entire range of Vespa and Aprilia scooters has been updated with ABS and CBS safety technologies. The two-wheeler brand had started rolling out CBS and ABS upgrade at the start of the year, ahead of the deadline set by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (1 April 2019).

Piaggio India has upgraded 125 cc Vespa and Aprilia scooters with CBS and their 150 cc variants with ABS. The two-wheeler brand has also announced special PayTM benefits for a limited period.

ABS is aimed at improving the stopping performance and avoid the wheels from locking under heavy braking. CBS tech, on the other hand, ensures equal brake distribution between the front and rear wheels to increase the stability of the vehicle.

Commenting on the introduction of the CBS and ABS-equipped Vespa and Aprilia, Diego Graffi, Managing Director and CEO, Piaggio India said:

This move will improve the overall safety and riding standards of the two-wheeler industry. For us, our product portfolio was already ABS compliant last year, but we are launching them across the country now to fit the general demand.

The addition of CBS and ABS have affected the prices, but buyers can avail a special discount. As a part of the introductory offer, Piaggio India is providing benefits on the ABS range of Vespa and Aprilia two-wheelers from this month onwards. Customers can avail PayTM benefits worth INR 6,000 under the limited period offer.

Piaggio had started rolling out CBS and ABS models from the beginning of 2019. The safer models have arrived at dealerships.

Meanwhile, the company is already preparing towards complying with the BS-VI emission norms. In fact, a new Aprilia scooter with a BS-VI 160 sticker on the apron was spotted in the country recently.
