The front-end of the Porsche 718 Boxster features large cooling air intakes, and bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. LED headlights with four-point daytime running lights are optional. The highlights of the side profile include large air inlet panels with two fins, multi-spoke 19-inch mag wheels, and door-mounted ORVMs. The rear-end features an accent strip with integrated Porsche badge between the taillights, which, in turn, feature three-dimensional LED technology and four-point brake lights.

The talking point of the interior is the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) unit with smartphone integration, audio interfaces and the Sound Package Plus with a 110 watts audio system. The PCM can be fine-tuned with optional modules that enable the system to adapt to personal requirements.

The latest generation of the Porsche 718 Boxster marks the return of the four-cylinder flat engine. Powered by a 2.0-litre motor that is aided by a turbocharger, the Boxster offers a maximum power output of 295 bhp @ 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 380 Nm at 1,950-4,500 rpm. A 6-speed PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) automatic transmission drives the rear wheels. The manufacturer claims that the 718 Boxster, equipped with PDK and Sports Chrono Package, can sprint from nought to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, which is 0.8 seconds faster than the previous version. Top speed is rated at 275 km/h.

The Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman marked the return of the flat-four engines. The turbocharged motors replace the flat-six unit.
