Production Ford EcoSport 'Storm' variant announced in Brazil
At the 2014 Sao Paulo Auto Show, Ford brought the Ford EcoSport Storm concept. Following the mid-cycle refresh last year, the company will release the production Ford EcoSport Storm in the country this year.
The teaser images of the production Ford EcoSport Storm reveal several differences from the standard Ford EcoSport. At the front, the Storm variant features a unique front grille with Raptor-style ‘STORM’ lettering in the centre and black fog lamp garnish. There are two black decorative stripes on the bonnet, one on each side. Just where the A-pillar starts, it looks like there’s a small air vent.
On the sides, visual enhancements include black ORVMs, a black decal with ‘STORM’ branding, black door handles, black beltline moulding, black fender flares and exclusive alloy wheels. Up top, the Ford EcoSport Storm features black roof rails, black cross roof racks and a sunroof. The orange exterior colour is new to the SUV in Brazil. Inside, some elements on the door panels and the centre console are in the body colour for a dual-tone look. The front seat’s backrests have the ‘STORM’ name embroidered on them.

Under the hood, the Ford EcoSport Storm has the 2.0-litre Direct Flex engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Running on petrol, the flex-fuel engine develops 170 cv (170 hp) and 202 Nm of torque. Using ethanol, these figures increase to 176 cv (176 hp) and 221 Nm respectively. There's no word on the Storm variant's pricing yet.
