The bodywork of the production is identical to the prototype bike.

The production version of the KTM 790 Adventure follows the same design language of the prototype. The bodywork is identical; the LED headlamp gets a flyscreen, and the handlebars come with protectors. Unlike the prototype, the beak type fender is replaced with a conventional fender for practicality. The exhaust is on the side of the tail section, with the catalytic converter hidden in the underbelly. The motorcycle was spotted for the first time in December 2016.

The motorcycle employs the same engine that does duty in the KTM 790 Duke. In the Duke, the 799cc parallel twin motor pushes out 105 PS of power at 9,000 rpm; and 86 Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. Expect the engine to have more bottom end grunt in this motorcycle. The powerplant mates with a 6-speed gearbox.

Suspension components include upside down front fork and a rear monoshock. The spoke wheels are shod with knobby tyres for efficient terrain taming. KTM has done away with the petal discs, and has equipped the test mule with conventional discs at the front and rear. The front dual discs get radial callipers.
