Proton Ertiga MPV to launch in three variants - Report

Indonesia-made Suzuki Ertiga gets rebadged for Malaysia.

The rebadged Suzuki Ertiga for Malaysia was confirmed as the 'Proton Ertiga' this week. Now, a report from Paultan has revealed the specifications of the Swift-based MPV.

The Proton Ertiga will be powered by a 92 PS (90.71 hp) 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

The Proton Ertiga measures 4,265 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,740 mm. It's powered by the familiar K14B 1.4-litre VVT four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 92 PS (90.71 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Proton will offer choices of 5-speed manual and Aisin-sourced 4-speed automatic transmissions for this model. The fuel economy is rated at 17.54 km/l for the manual and 16.67 km/l for the automatic.

The Proton Ertiga will be available in three variants: Executive MT, Executive AT and Executive Plus AT. Reflector type halogen headlamps, fog lamps (front and rear), electrically adjustable door mirrors, parking sensors (rear), rear wiper and 15-inch wheels will be standard.

The top-end variant adds chrome trim for the front fog lamp housing, power adjustment for and LED turn signals on the door mirrors, extra under-bonnet insulation, steering-mounted audio controls, chrome interior door handles, driver's seat height adjustment, two dashboard tweeters (in addition to four speakers) and seat-back pockets.

The Proton Ertiga, as a Suzuki, earned a 4-star crash rating from ASEAN NCAP.

The Proton Ertiga has a 4-star crash safety rating from ASEAN NCAP. Safety features include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, side impact beams and two ISOFIX anchors, but ESC won't be offered. Four colour choices will be available: Ruby Red, Carnelian Brown, Metal Grey and Cotton White.

Prices of the Proton Ertiga are yet to be revealed. It will be imported in CKD form from Indonesia.
