Malaysia - Hyundai i10 rivaling Proton P2-30A small car shows its taillight

The car could be called the Proton Iriz.

Paultan.org's reader Mr. Fadzil brings in the latest spyshot of Malaysia's upcoming global car, the Proton P2-30A (codename). To be launched anytime soon, the global hatchback was spotted on board a transporter.

Though the car is veiled partially, the rear combination lamp is clearly visible. The edgy taillight gets a prominent clear lens element.

The Proton P2-30A is expected to be launch very soon.

Proton teased the car's headlamp which turned out to be exactly like the rendering created by our in-house designer Shoeb Kalania. The front fascia is dominated by a massive hexagonal grille.

The ambitious small car which targets the likes of VW Up!, Hyundai i10 and Honda Brio reportedly cost Proton a sum of RM 300 million (INR 573 crore) to develop. The P2-30A will have the Perodua Myvi as its local competitor but expect the pricing to be slightly on the higher side.

The technical details of the hatchback have not been revealed but expect a compact petrol motor displacing between 1.0 - 1.2-litres to be on duty. Both manual and automatic transmissions could be in the offing.

Being a global car, the Proton hatchback would pack enough safety equipment to get through the Euro-NCAP crash test.

Competitors: VW Up!, Hyundai i10, Honda Brio, Perodua Myvi

Launch timeframe: Anytime now in Malaysia
