Vespa has refreshed its portfolio in the Philippines with the launch of five updated models. The list includes three GTS scooters - SuperSport, Touring and SuperTech. The GTS 300 SuperTech HPE (High Performance Engine) is the most powerful Vespa, and it is loaded with several premium features. It’s priced at 4,08,000 Philippines Peso, which roughly converts to INR 5.56 lakh.

The GTS SuperTech is part of the company’s five-variant GTS series that was unveiled at the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The range comprises the GTS, GTS Touring, GTS Super, GTS SuperSport and the GTS SuperTech.

Compared to the standard GTS 300’s 22 hp and 22.2 Nm of torque, the HPE draws 23.5 hp (a 12% increase) of peak power at 8,250 rpm and maximum torque of 26Nm (an 18% improvement) at 5,250 rpm from its 278 cc single-cylinder, Euro-V compliant engine. Vespa has used new pistons and cylinder head designs for the HPE. This motor is linked to a CVT transmission. The electronic rider aids include traction control and ABS as standard. Anchoring power comes from a double-disc braking system.

While the GTS SuperTech HPE is the most potent Vespa yet, it retains the typical retro styling that makes it instantly recognizable as a Vespa. Styling highlights include chrome accents across the body. These highlights include headlight mask, rearview mirror housing, garnish on the front fender, pillion grab rail, taillight surrounds and exhaust heat shield among others.

The Retro styling is complemented by modern hardware that comprises LED headlight and tail lamp and a modern instrument console. The display benefits from VESPA MIA connectivity system that features Bluetooth enabled 4.3" full-colour TFT display for smartphone integration. The system works with a smartphone app (available on iOS and Android). Apart from the regular ride related information, the TFT display also shows notifications about incoming calls and messages.

The Vespa GTS 300 range comes with a USB charger and a large under-seat storage that is claimed to be big enough to accommodate two open-face helmets.

The Vespa GTS SuperTech is the top model of the Vespa GTS range. It is characterised by its rims and decorations on the typical horn cover, offered with a matte black finish. The scooter is available in two colour options - Volcano Black and Matter Grey. Another unique styling feature is the yellow painted front shock spring. The seat features a “hi-tech” finish, with double upholstery and two-colour stitching.
