Lal moves to the UK as Royal Enfield dreams global - Report
Exports currently contribute just 5 percent of RE's business.
With sales and production of Royal Enfield bikes in India rising to a large extent in the last two years, it seems like the company's next focus is on the international markets.
The Economic Times is reporting that Siddhartha Lal, MD and CEO of Eicher Motors, is relocating to the UK for a year in order to place increased importance to the international buyers.
Apart from putting Lal in one of the most important markets for Royal Enfield, the report says, it will also put him in a position where he works closely with the personnel in the company's R&D facility in the region. However, with a focus on small- to mid-size models, ranging in engine displacement between 250 cc and 750 cc, Royal Enfield will take on some of the more established players in the global scene. The company's business outside of India constitutes around 5 percent in terms of numbers.
