Expected to go on sale in India next year.

Hyundai is readying a facelift for the second generation Hyundai i20, which was launched in India in 2014. Fly Wheel has shared new spy shots of the 2018 Hyundai i20, revealing details of the car's rear fascia.

The 2018 Hyundai i20's license plate has moved to the tailgate signifying changes at the sheet metal level.

The 2018 Hyundai i20 has new tail light graphics, and the car spotter says the lights were probably LED. Another visble change at the rear is the redesigned tailgate and the license plate repositioned from the lower bumper. The rear bumper hiding beneath the camouflage is recast.

The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 is expected to feature a front inspired by the i30 and the new Accent/Verna. Changes, as represented in our rendering below, will include the new 'Cascading' grille, reshaped headlamps with new graphics and restyled bumper. On the sides, the facelift brings new alloy wheel design. The current model measures 3,985 mm in length, 1,734 mm in width and 1,505 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,570 mm, and these will stay or change marginally in the facelift.

Hyundai recently upgraded the i20's 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink smartphone integration compatibility, and this unit already offers satellite navigation. Hence, no changes are expected in this aspect. The company could refresh the interior with revised trim and upholstery and maybe some equipment changes for the different grades, hinted by the covered interior in previous prototypes.

The 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT engine and 5-speed manual transmission, and the 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine and 6-speed manual transmission combinations are expected to continue in the Hyundai i20 with the facelift. The third and newest variant, a 1.4-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine and 4-speed automatic transmission combination, is likely to continue despite its limited effect on volume.

The 2018 Hyundai i20, as in our rendering, will feature Mercedes A-Class inspired alloy wheels, bumper styled like the new Accent/Verna, a cascading grille and sharp headlamps.

The current model's price ranges between INR 5,36,624 and INR 9,07,235 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the mid-cycle refresh will see it prevail (barring the GST effect) or rise nominally. Sales of the new model is expected to commence next year with the launch at the Auto Expo in February a possibility.
