Rear of the Fiat Tipo hatchback - Rendering
To be made in Turkey.
RM Design has rendered the rear view of the Fiat Tipo hatchback. Based on the yet-to-launch Fiat Egea (Aegea) sedan, the model is set to replace the Fiat Bravo hatchback and mark Fiat's re-entry into the C-Segment. Its world premiere is expected to take place at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March.
The Egea-based hatchback is envisioned, courtesy of recent spyshots that revealed the production-ready guise, to carry forward the styling of the sedan largely unaltered. It is apparent from the test mule pictures that the hatchback features changes to the body shape only further to the rear from the C-pillars, judging from the rear door and window designs.
Apart from the sedan and hatchback body types, there will be a third version, a station wagon, debuting next year, as a successor to the Stilo Multiwagon. The Fiat trio will be a premium alternative to Dacia's triplets - Sandero hatchback, Logan sedan and Logan MCV wagon.
The Fiat Tipo range of cars will feature two petrol and two diesel engines, including a 1.4-litre (95 hp) unit, a 1.6-litre (110 bhp) motor, a 1.3-litre 16-valve MultiJet II (95 bhp) mill and a 1.6-litre 16-valve MultiJet II (120 bhp) machine. The transmission choices will include two manual - a five-speed and a six-speed unit - and one six-speed automatic gearbox.
All three versions of the Fiat Tipo will be produced at TOFAS' plant in Bursa, Turkey, from where the models will be exported to over 40 nations. The local market will receive the Linea-replacement (sedan version) first, by the end of this year.
