Report - Rolls Royce Phantom Series II launches in India at 4.5 crore

Rolls Royce entered India back in 2005, and after today's launch of the Phantom Series II, the British luxury car maker believes it is taking what's best and making it better. The Series II is a facelift of the outgoing Phantom.

The Phantom Series II is priced at 4.5 crore (standard wheelbase) and 5.10 crore (extended wheelbase), ex-showroom Mumbai.

The Series II retains the Phantom's 6.75-litre V12 petrol engine, but the 6-speed transmission has been replaced with a more efficient 8-speed ZF transmission that reduces fuel consumption by 10%. The chassis has been adjusted to provide a more comfortable ride.

The 6.75-liter engine puts out 453bhp @ 5,350 rpm and a torque of 719.9Nm between 1,000 - 3,000 rpm. It permits the car to complete the 0-100 kph run in just 5.7 seconds and accelerates all the way to the top whack of 239 kph.

The Series II is fitted with restyled bumpers, rectangular light apertures, full LED headlamps (the first for a passenger car) equipped with adaptive-lighting technology.

Among the ocean of features that the Series II inherits from the Phantom, the multimedia controllers have been redesigned. A new satellite navigation system with an 8.8-inch control display features on its elegant and timeless interior.

The company has started accepting bookings. Deliveries will be conducted late this year or early next year depending on the level of customization.
