Apart from the addition of ABS, there are no changes to the Royal Enfield Classic 500 ABS. Thus, the motorcycle continues to use the 499cc single cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke fuel-injected engine which makes 27.2 bhp of power at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Stopping power is provided by 280mm disc with 2-piston calliper at the front and 240mm disc with single-piston calliper at the rear.

Visually, the motorcycle continues to feature a matte-black finish all over with chrome finish to the rear springs and the side stand. Suspension duties are performed by 35mm, conventional telescopic front forks with 130mm travel and twin gas charged rear shock absorbers with 5-step adjustable pre-load with 80mm travel.

The dimensions will remain identical to the standard version although the addition of ABS would add a marginal amount of weight to the 194 kg kerb weight of the motorcycle. The motorcycle is 2,140mm long, 790mm wide and 1,090mm tall. The fuel tank features a 13.5-litre capacity.

As reported in August 2018, Rudratej Singh, President - Royal Enfield, had confirmed that the ABS variants of Royal Enfield Classic 500, Thunderbird 500 and Himalayan will be launched in September.
