Royal Enfield Classic 650 - IAB Rendering
IAB’s in-house illustrator Shoeb R Kalania has rendered the Royal Enfield Classic 650. Royal Enfield does not have plans to plonk the 650 twin engine into the Classic as of now.
The Royal Enfield Classic is one of the brand’s best-selling models. The Interceptor INT 650’s engine would be an ideal powerplant to further enhance the Classic’s capabilities. If it materialises, the Classic 650 would be a very alluring choice of a proper modern classic. As per the rendering, the bike retains the design philosophy of the Classic 500, but receives a few modifications to handle the extra power. The double cradle frame would be tweaked to look like the older frame to accommodate the body panels. The riding position is the same as the current generation Classic.
The Interceptor’s engine would be in the same tune in the Classic 650 as well. The 648 cc parallel twin counterbalanced air-and-oil-cooled engine makes 47 bhp at 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. The Royal Enfield Classic 650 rides on 41 mm front telescopic fork and twin rear gas-charged shock absorbers.

The spoke wheels are shod with grippy Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres instead of the MRF units in the 350/500 cc variant. A 320 mm front and a 240 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS handle the anchoring responsibility. If Royal Enfield plans to introduce this model, it would rival the Kawasaki Vulcan S, Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Hyosung Aquila Pro.
