Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 spotted with accessories

While we’re awaiting the global, and Indian launch of the new Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650, these photographs surfaced on social media.

The accessories options, as seen in the photograph, include windscreen, bar-end mirrors, pillion seat, saddlebag stay and crash guards.

Seen on the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Facebook page, the motorcycle dons accessories that weren’t seen before. At the front, for example, is a small windscreen that sits above the headlight. Bar-end mounted rear view mirrors have replaced the stock units. The bar-end mounted mirrors get a dual-tone finish that adds a premium touch to their design.

Another noticeable feature is the saddle that, unlike the previous sightings of the motorcycle, sports a pillion seat instead of a cowl. The new saddle, unlike the unit on the Interceptor INT 650, gets a slight hump in the centre. Along with a pillion seat comes a grab rail for the passenger. Addressing the touring needs is a pair of saddlebag stays that are seen on the motorcycle. The units are aimed to protect the luggage from getting in contact with the rear tyre.

The motorcycle also gets a crash guard that is aimed to protect the bodywork while, at the same time save you from being stuck under the motorcycle in case of a fall. The accessory package adds more retro character to the Continental GT 650 while bringing added utility in the form of space for the pillion and luggage.

As reported, Royal Enfield will launch the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650 in the Indian, as well as the global markets in Q3 of FY2018-19. A report filed on September 5 states that the upcoming 650 duo could be priced at INR 3 lakh (ex-showroom).

Leaked technical specifications reveal that the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor INT 650 will derive 47 bhp of maximum power @ 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque @ 5,200 rpm from the new 648cc parallel twin cylinder, SOHC, air-cooled, fuel injected motor. The engine will come mated to a six-speed gearbox and will feature Assist and Slipper clutch.

The bar-end mounted mirrors, and the small windscreen adds more retro character to the Continental GT 650 while the saddlebag stays, and pillion seat adds more utility.
